Hubby Update 6-15-26

We just spoke with the infectious disease doctor. They’re concerned that this particular bacteria (pseudomonas) is too strong for oral antibiotics, and they can’t risk it resurging. It’s pretty resistant to antibiotics to begin with, but a resurgence would be even worse, so they’re discussing a picc line for IV antibiotics at home.

Poor Hubby… he’s going to have to be extra careful in how he moves because of the picc line in his arm and the kidney tube, but the only other option is a prolonged hospital stay until they can do surgery.

He doesn’t love that option either.

Not sure if he’ll be able to go home today or tomorrow, but I suspect tomorrow.

On a positive note, his kidney was doing incredibly poorly yesterday. Today, the nephrologist came by, and she said, “I don’t understand you.” Hubby asked her why, and she explained that, yesterday, his kidney was in really bad shape, but today, the function has returned to a healthy level. He’s no longer sliding towards failure. She doesn’t understand how that’s possible, but we all do, don’t we? 🥰

Things to keep praying for:

1. That we can get his surgical appointment sooner rather than later.
2. That doctors can keep this infection completely under control so he can have the surgery
3. That the tube in his body continues to function without issue
4. That his spirits remain high despite all of these hardships. It’s so much for him to deal with, and Hubby hasn’t been able to (and won’t be able to) really work for quite a while. (That’s really hard for him personally, because he loves working 😆)
5. That God will help us deal with the financial burdens of all this.
