Description
“The world whipped around her in a dizzying funnel of lights and shouts, people in uniforms pressing in from all directions. Noelle sat motionless in the street, barely able to breathe. His little body was too still. Too broken.”
Noelle’s world shattered that night, like the pieces of headlights scattered across the dark street. There was no rebuilding her life around the grave of her child.
Adrift in her guilt and grief, Noelle finds herself drawn to an old house as rundown and weary as her spirit. She might not be able to mend her own brokenness, but maybe she can restore this abandoned structure to its former beauty. Determined, she throws herself into a renovation project with the unexpected help of a local. But she soon learns that her new home comes with a blood-stained history and a chilling reputation.
When she stumbles across a diary written by a child with a disturbing life, and a teenage girl vanishes from the village, clues leave Noelle wondering if her house might somehow be connected. Someone — or something — wants her gone, but she has no intention of leaving without discovering the truth.

Couldn’t Put it Down
I’m a huge fan of C.C. Warrens and the thought of a new book just made me so excited. I was a bit skeptical about reading a book that didn’t involve Holly, but she did a great job of creating new characters and a non-stop storyline that kept me guessing from the first page!
The main character, Noelle, had suffered some trauma and wanted a new start. That new start involved a very old—bordering on haunted—house. The prologue sets the stage for mystery and the first chapter will keep you turning the page until the epilogue. Wow! I was kept guessing the whole time and I totally fell in love with Noelle and the new characters in the small village of Cherry Creek, Ohio.
This sums up the book for me: Noelle says God was stitching her broken pieces together in ways she could never have foreseen and the whole book is full of unforeseen moments, plots, and God using each one of them to work in their lives. Great story, great mystery, great characters!
This appears to be a stand-alone novel, but I would love to revisit these characters in another book soon!

Great for mystery lovers!
CC Warrens’ hit it out of the park with her first stand-alone book (I hope she turns this into a new series)! Meet Noelle, Derek, and other new friends … and enemies!… as a mystery presents itself to the characters. Can you figure out what’s going on before it’s revealed? I did figure it out, but it took me a while for sure. Definitely recommend for mystery lovers!

Wonderful mystery/suspense novel!
Another great read by C.C. Warrens! This one is different than the author’s previous Holly Novels, but you can still hear the author’s unique voice in the story. This story follows Noelle from Seattle to small town Ohio, as she runs from the pain of her past and throws herself into the restoration of an old house, whose pictures online spoke to her. As strange things begin to happen at the house, she wonders if she’s bitten off more than she can chew. While this book lacks the same level of intensity of some of the author’s previous works, it makes up for it in mystery, unique characters and spiritual depth. This story speaks to trusting in God through the pain and learning to hear Him when He seems to be silent. This one does deal with some difficult subjects, but as usual, the author handles those with grace. There is some humor involved and even a light romance in this one. I enjoyed both the plot line and the characters immensely. Needing to know how things resolved kept me turning pages and I had a difficult time putting this one down. For fans of mystery/suspense and romantic suspense, this is one I would definitely recommend! Special thanks to the author for an advance e-copy of this book. I was under no obligation to provide a review and the thoughts contained herein are my own
