Cross Fire is nail biting suspense and gripping in every sense of the word.
When I say that C.C knows how to write a villain… WHEW! I physically shivered with every encounter and scene Collin was in.
This book has a great whodunnit element as we get a front row seat to one of Marx’s cases; of course Holly gets herself involved 😂
We see the fatherly relationship between Marx and Holly really grow in this book and I love the unique dynamic.
Cross Fire has tons of sweet Marx/Holly moments and I soaked up every bit! Add Jordan, Jace, and Sam (and all their bantering) to the mix and you’ve got a loveable makeshift family.
C.C. isn’t afraid to include real life suffering, trauma, and abuse but she nails it with grace and sensitivity.
Holly’s past and process just continue to be revealed in this book and it’s heartbreaking.
Will she ever be safe?
You’ll just have to read and find out. Have Book 3 ready to go because this one ends on a major cliff hanger!

Wow, Just Wow!
Oh my! Holly Cross does seem to have trouble follow her every where she goes. This second book in the series picks up where Criss Cross left off. Only now there is more trouble for Holly to get mixed up in. Her detective friend, Marx, is involved with gangs and murders. And of course, Holly gets involved and things turn very, very dangerous. Not only for her, but for her long-time friend, Jordan, who returns to help protect Holly from Collin, her nightmare…the man that only wants to continue to torture Holly. The suspense of the current danger that Holly, Marx and Jordan are in and add to it the deeper suspense of wondering when and where Collin will show himself, is edge-of-your seat tension. If this were a movie, I would cover my eyes and peak through my fingers to see what’s coming next!
Author C.C. Warrens did an excellent job on continuing Holly’s story. She has really developed the characters even more as they continue on in this novel with new dangers. I had a hard time putting this book down, yet at the same time, I would stop reading just because I wanted it to last longer. Holly is still a quirky, witty, thankful woman. But she is still haunted by her past and is still having a hard time letting the people that care for her do just that…care for her! Holly still has boundaries but is slowly trying very hard to overcome the horrors of the past. But some horrors never seem to go away…Collin!
If you read, Criss Cross, then you know you will have to continue reading about Holly to find out how things turned out. And if you haven’t read the first book, Criss Cross, then do! Please do! If you like mystery/suspense, very little romance, quirky characters and funny, witty characters, then this is the book series for you. No bad language, no sex scenes, and that is important for me. This is a Christian book, but there’s not preachy scenes, just a good balance of a wounded life and how Jesus is always there for Holly.

As usual, CC continues to write amazing stories that pull you in and don’t let you go until the very last page. Hang on for an exciting read!

Another great suspense!
This book is the 2nd in the Holly series and is also excellent! I would recommend reading all of the books in the series – and reading them in order, but the author makes sure to note for readers some of the things from the prior book that help this make sense, so it could be stand-alone. The man that Holly fears most in the world has tracked her down and since he knows where she lives, Detective Marx (who has taken her under his wing) takes her into his custody. Then her life becomes in danger due to a case that he’s working on. The dynamic between characters continues well from the first book and they add in more players. The suspense and action carries to the end and the twist at the end was one I didn’t see coming. Another great book from C.C. Warrens. Exciting to read the next one!

Crossfire is another masterpiece! It gripped me from the beginning and I didn’t want the story to end. C.C. never disappoints me with all the nail biting suspense, but also sprinkles in meaningful relationships and friendships. I love how Holly is growing in these relationships and in her walk with God.

I loved this book. I had to adjust my seat belt a few times while reading. This book has an amazing mix of suspense, fun, and Jesus. I suggest that you buy all the books in this series that way you can keep the suspense going.

Holy cow! What an emotional roller coaster! (in a great way) I could not put this book down. I wish I could put in to words exactly how I felt reading this book. I felt it to the core. The suspense, the villain, the friendships and yes even humor left me on the edge of my seat (so to speak).
I have to comment on the relationship between Marx and Holly. It is so beautiful. It shows the love of God our Father and how He loves us and protects us in our darkest times. No matter what we have been through, what we have done or how unworthy we think we are, His unconditional love and Grace is all we need.
I highly recommend this whole series. Please write more Holly stories! I can’t get enough ♥️

Can I give this 6 stars?? This series will be the one that makes you grieve the characters until the next book comes out! Full of suspense and fast moving. Holly still brings the humor to lighten the mood. C.C. has a way of writing that pulls you in and will probably keep you up too late reading. Highly recommend this series.
